Cycling routes safe for families and beginners expand across Malad parks
New protected paths in two Malad locations give families and new riders dedicated space away from traffic.
How we reported this

Malad added 8 kilometres of protected cycling lanes this June inside Infinity Park and along the Malad Promenade near Malad railway station.
The lanes opened after the Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai completed fencing and surface repairs that began in March. Families in Malad have asked for safer outdoor options as more residents seek low-cost exercise close to home rather than travelling to distant facilities.
Two local spots now ready for new riders
Infinity Park in Malad East features a flat 3-kilometre loop with barriers separating bikes from walkers. The Malad Promenade route runs 5 kilometres parallel to the station approach road and includes two supervised crossing points. Both sites fall under the Malad Active Living Program run by the local ward office.
The same program supplies free helmets on weekends and maintains a small fleet of 40 rental bikes at each location. Riders pay 150 rupees for a two-hour session, with bookings handled through the ward office app that went live on 1 July.
Practical steps for first-time users
Beginners should start at the Infinity Park entrance on Chincholi Bunder Road before 9 a.m. to avoid peak foot traffic. The Malad Cyclists Association holds free 30-minute orientation sessions every Saturday at 7:30 a.m. at the Promenade starting point. Parents can check daily lane conditions on the ward office website before heading out with children.
Participants are advised to carry water and a basic repair kit, available for 300 rupees at the rental desk. Regular users report completing the full Malad Promenade loop in under 45 minutes at a steady pace suitable for mixed-age groups.
