Borivali Gets Candidate Plans for Road and Water Projects Before 2027 Elections

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation issued fresh candidate profile guidelines on 28 June 2026. These require every nominee in the Borivali assembly segment to file a two-page statement covering positions on ward-specific works such as the Dahisar-Borivali elevated road widening and the 24-hour water supply pilot in Gorai.

The circular follows the Maharashtra State Election Commission order that extended disclosure deadlines for the 227 Mumbai wards. Polling for these seats is scheduled for February 2027. The rules apply only to candidates who file nomination papers at the Borivali ward office on S.V. Road.

Residents who rely on the municipal water tanker schedule in Borivali East will see candidate answers on whether they support expanding the 450 million litre daily supply target set in the 2025-26 budget. Families near the Borivali railway station will read statements on plans to add two new foot-over bridges budgeted at 18 crore rupees each.

Local advocates note that the profiles must list sources of campaign funds above 50,000 rupees. This requirement replaces the previous single-line declaration used in the 2022 civic elections, when 14 candidates contested the three Borivali wards.

Community voices and next dates

Policy analysts at the Mumbai-based Observer Research Foundation state that the new format will allow voters to compare written commitments on the 12-kilometre Goregaon-Mulund link road section passing through Borivali. Community groups in Eksar village have requested copies of the profiles at the ward office starting 20 July.

The corporation will publish all accepted profiles on its website by 10 August. Candidates who miss the 15 July filing deadline will be barred from using the official spotlight template in local media coverage.
