Following the collapse in Borivali West, the BMC served notices on eight buildings across Borivali East and West, directing residents to leave within seven days. The civic body has already declared 54 buildings in the R (central) ward dilapidated and dangerous. Of those, 33 have been demolished, and three more are scheduled for demolition after Diwali. Residents in the remaining structures now face direct relocation requirements tied to these safety orders.

Road Development Works Carry Monsoon Deadline

BMC Commissioner Bhushan Gagrani has directed that road development works in the Borivali division, including the first phase near the railway station, must finish before the monsoon season begins. This sets a firm timeline for completion of the initial segment and other division projects. The order focuses on preparing infrastructure ahead of seasonal rains without specifying exact completion dates beyond the monsoon cutoff.

Affordable Housing Township Moves Forward

The Maharashtra state government has approved an affordable housing integrated township on 28 acres in Borivali West covering Shimpoli and Gorai. The project is expected to take three to four years to complete. This approval establishes the next phase of planning and land development for the township under state oversight.
