Borivali BMC Lifts Construction Ban, Issues Safety Notices, Advances Projects

Following a recent building collapse, the BMC issued notices to eight dangerous buildings in Borivali East and West. Residents in those structures must vacate within seven days. In Borivali's R central ward, a total of 54 buildings have been declared dilapidated and dangerous. Of those, 33 have already been demolished, with three more scheduled for demolition after Diwali.

Road Development Priorities

BMC Commissioner Bhushan Gagrani directed that priority road development works in the Borivali division be completed before the monsoon season. These directives focus on essential infrastructure maintenance ahead of seasonal rains.

Affordable Housing Initiative

The Maharashtra state government approved an affordable housing township for low-income families on 28 acres in Borivali West. A ground-breaking ceremony is expected in two to three months. These steps reflect coordinated local decisions on safety, roads and housing needs in the area.

The actions build on earlier assessments of structures in the R ward and align with mandates from the civic commissioner. Residents in affected buildings receive direct notices outlining timelines for vacating. Road projects target priority segments in the Borivali division to reduce monsoon-related disruptions.
